The El Salvador San Salvador West Mission is one of the smallest missions in the world. It is also one of the most densely populated missions in the world.

As a new missionary, you are preparing to serve some of the most humble, hospitable, kind and friendly people you'll ever meet. You are also preparing to serve some of the most spiritually hungry. The field is white and ready to harvest in El Salvador, and we hope that these next few pages might give you a clearer idea of what to expect in the country we love: El Salvador!

new missionaries

The pages we provide here for new missionaries preparing to serve in the El Salvador West Mission are not meant to replace any information the church provides new missionaries. These pages are simply reference for missionaries and their families to examine and get another perspective on life and mission life in El Salvador.

Our packing list looks at some of the things you may not think of, and it suggests a few things you might want to consider leaving at home. The only thing worse than having overstuffed suitcases, is having overstuffed suitcases full of things you may not need or want!

We have also prepared a bio of the current Mission President, President E. Roberto Cajas, as well as a short history of past Mission Presidents. President Cajas is an amazing man and you are fortunate to be able to work with him.

In our "Real Scoop on El Salvador" we'll share a few things that most missionaries don't discover until they are well into the mission field. A few pitfalls that always lie in wait of new greenies. All those cultural nuances and language tricks. However, we choose to leave some stories for the missionaries to share with parents after they get home!
